About the Fund
Established in 2015 with R2bn of investor commitments, the Old Mutual Retirement Accommodation Fund (OMRAF) has the objective of providing investors with attractive risk-adjusted returns by making investments into retirement accommodation assets which address the unique accommodation needs of the South African retired market, such as security, healthcare and other support services.
OMRAF invests in new developments and existing facilities, across life right, sectional title, freehold and rental typologies, as well as associated retirement services, in partnership with experienced developers, specialist operators and service providers, to provide quality retirement accommodation solutions to the retired market.
OMRAF aspires to make a positive contribution to the development of the retirement accommodation sector in South Africa.
We are proud of the impact OMRAF has made to date:

- 1 600 completed units, including frail care and assisted living units
- 135 units under construction or in committed pipeline
- Projecting 2 500 residents from current commitment

OMRAF has constructed its investment portfolio to intentionally address the social need and infrastructure required in providing retirement accommodation and sustainable care to the older persons market.
Its portfolio is diversified across five investments and ten retirement villages, in three provinces, across life rights, sectional titles, freehold, and rental typologies, including assisted living, frail care, and healthcare facilities.
OMRAF is further diversified between new developments and mature portfolios, contributing to employment creation and environmental sustainability, and across debt and equity investments, to provide investors with a stable long-term return.
